The parent company – Israel Shipyards was established in 1959 in the Haifa Bay as a government company specializing in the development, planning, construction, training, maintenance, renovation, and repair of military and civilian vessels in Israel and around the world.
In addition to the maritime field, the company is also engaged in the production and installation of large and complex steel constructions for power stations, desalination plants, high pressure pipes, port cranes and infrastructure for seaports and airports, and more. Since its inception until the present, the Company has worked vigorously to promote reforms and to make changes in the Israeli market.
In 1995, the company was privatized in a successful process and since that time it is privately owned.
In 2004, a reform was launched at the Israel Port Authority.
In 2007, Israel Shipyards received official authorization to provide port services to sugar cargo ships. This authorization was the kickoff for the process of building the first private port in Israel. During that year, the first sugar ship, weighing 9,000 tons, unloaded its cargo at the Israel Shipyards Port, and in so doing, inaugurated the port’s activity as a private port.
Today, in 2016, the company launched its cement terminal – Ciment.
In 2008, the permit for unloading all types of cargo designated in the ports reform agreements was expanded for the Israel Ports Development & Assets Company Ltd., with its 1,000 meters of platforms, skilled workforce and designated loading and unloading equipment. This served as the basis for the consistent growth of the port as a young dynamic and customer-focused port committed to developing innovative service initiatives that position the customer’s needs at the forefront of the port’s activity.
The port offers various logistical services:
removal, pumping bilge water, etc.)
